We are delighted to be awarded a key grant to enable us to proceed with expanding the capability of our enterprise, The Bedingfeld Arms.
We have been held back by the bottleneck fault of our previous existing kitchen design and at last (6 years since we took over the abandoned, boarded up building) we are able to invest in a state of the art mega kitchen – visiting agency chefs go weak at the knees seeing what possibilities lie ahead.
We hope to be more efficient and continue the high standards that are now expected of the Bedingfeld. It continues to act as a beacon in a remote, rural undiscovered area of South West Norfolk – complimenting the popular National Trust (Oxburgh Hall) property across the road. 88,000 visitors per year and with only a refectory style self-service dining room and take away pantry to provide sustenance for visitors – The Bedingfeld Arms provides a welcome addition to the limited choice of where to eat/drink when visiting Oxburgh Hall (in Oxborough, near Swaffham).
Tremendous admiration and thanks to our splendid staff who have worked together as a brilliant team with a succession of agency chefs to help at this tricky time – continuing to offer a superb selection of fare to guests – cooking in only two-thirds of the previous cramped kitchen area!
We all know there is light at the end of the tunnel – April/1st May – when the building work is deemed to be completed. Fingers crossed – Sean Fletcher and his troupe of trusty builders are mighty impressive – having already proved themselves before on our last addition to the Bedingfeld Arms, the Oak and Stone Private Dining Room which has to be seen to be truly admired. We have had many enquiries for guests wishing to emulate our addition.
Christmas at The Bedingfeld Arms

Oxburgh Hall Grounds Are Open!
The fairytale moat & gardens for children to run around & explore.
Dogs are also welcome now. The Hall itself is closed after a dramatic collapse of stone mullion dorma window. Fortunately the family residents/visitors were not hurt.
The ample grounds & moat are still open for half price £5 – a kids haven with larger than life toys to play and gentle hills to roll down.
It’s Monday & Monday Madness as usual – but with a Difference!! (farewell Giles)
Popular Giles (visiting Chef Patron) is leaving us tomorrow. Do Call in today/tonight to wish him well & wave him on his way and to remind him …we are here to Welcome Him Back Any time he feels like joining us again!
Thank You, Giles for All Your Smiles, Charm and Genuine Help/hard work you have given us. The Bedingfeld, Oxborough & South West Norfolk salutes you
The inaugural Bedingfeld ‘Autumn Drinks Party’ was held at very short notice (lack of internet connections & the need to establish a database) but amazingly we nearly had a full house and found ourselves in the midst of a wonderful group of friends and supporters of the Bedingfeld. It was also 4 years to the day when Stephen & Catkin had their bid accepted for the boarded up, abandoned property – Opening on 9th March 2012 (Year of the Jubilee)
Bright & Welcoming Bar by real log fire with freshly picked flowers, an ideal spot to have lunch with family and friends (dogs are allowed alongside). South Facing Sunny Garden for when the sun shines in between the April Showers!
